Erythroniums
 

Early spring flowering, lily-like plants are produced from fleshy corms.  Species described have narrow to broad, lance shaped green leaves often mottled.  Nodding flowers have six pointed petals and all are more or less reflexed.   All thrive in well drained humus-rich soil in shade to semi-shade.

N.A.Native.  Ht. 10-20cm.  Z3.  Leaves mottled.  Flowers white inside with yellow centers and a blue or pink tinted exterior.  Easy to grow in humus rich soil in shade to part sun.

Erythronium americanum Trout lily.........10cm pot $4.00ea
N.A.Native.  Ht.10-15cm.  Z2.  Glossy narrow leaves with heavy brownish purple mottling.  Bright yellow solitary flowers bloom April to May. Naturally small corms.

Erythronium californicum `White Beauty' 11cm pot $9.50ea
Ht. 20-30cm.  Z5.  This is now considered by most to be a form of E.californicum. It was considered to be a hybrid or selection of E.oregonum  and before that a hybrid or selection of E.revolutum.  Similar to E.oregonum except White Beauty is more vigorous, tends to have more flowers per stalk and the central markings are yellow and brown.

Native.  Ht. 15-50cm.  Z4.  Large unmarked bright green leaves.  Golden yellow flowers in groups of 1-3.  Blooms April to May.  Needs well drained soil in semi-shade.

Ht.25-30cm. Z5. Pure white fragrant flowers with a yellow throat.  Usually 1-3 flowers per stem make this a Californian worth knowing. These are 4-5 year old seedlings that should bloom in a year or so.

Native. Ht.25-30cm. Z5. A lovely species with soft lavender pink flowers with darker anthers and a purple base and wonderfully mottled leaves. These are 4-5 year old seedlings that should bloom in a year or so.

Ht. 12-18cm.  Z5.  Narrow deep green unmottled or lightly mottled leaves.  Dainty, highly reflexed lilac pink to grape purple flowers with dark stamens.

Native. Ht.25-30cm. Z5. These are 4-5 year old seedlings of a huge flowered E. oregonum from California.  Hopefully the apple will not fall far from the tree.  They should bloom in a year or so.

Native.  Ht. 15-20cm.  Z5.  Leaves mottled with light brown markings.Pink flowers (rarely white) are usually solitary but occasionally clustered up to five per stalk.

Ht. 20cm.  Z2.  A rare pink fawn lily.

Erythronium sibiricum album ................ $30.00ea
Ht. 20cm.  Z2.  This is the extremely rare white flowered form of this species.  Very, very showy.

Erythronium smithii = Erythronium revolutum  This is an old, incorrect name for E. revolutum.

Native.  Ht. 30-50cm.  Z5.  Light green unmottled leaves.  Up to five bright yellow flowers per stalk.  Blooms April to May.

Erythronium tuolumnense `Citronella'........................$6.99ea
Ht. 30-50cm.  Z5.  An E.tuolumnense hybrid.  Large, lemon yellow flowers have a light brown clover leaf shaped basal band in the throat.  Starts to bloom just after the other Erythroniums have finished in May.

Ht. 30-50cm.  Z5.  An E.tuolumnese hybrid.  Large yellow flowers (slightly darker than `Pagoda') with a dark, bronze basal ring.  Leaves lightly mottled.
