Wollemia nobilis   Wollemi Pine ........................  $149.00ea
This amazing tree was discovered in 1994 in Wollemi National Park in Australia. At that time only 2 dozen of the huge conifers were found! It is one of the most endangered and threatened plants on earth.  Cuttings and seeds were collected from the original trees and  propagation to ensure that extinction did not occur was initiated. A portion of the proceeds from each tree sold is returned to help in this global conservation effort and to help support National Geographics missions. Wollemia nobilis is an  evergreen reaching 25–40 m (80-112 feet) tall. The bark is very distinctive, dark brown and knobbly, this is usually  noticeable when the tree reaches 5 years of age. The tree coppices readily, and most specimens are multi-trunked or appear as clumps of trunks thought to derive from old coppice growth. The branching is unique in that nearly all the side branches never have further branching. After a few years, each branch either terminates in a cone (either male or female) or ceases growth.
